The Abraham Accords The agreements signed by Bahrain, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States on September 15, 2020. The UAE signed a Peace Treaty, including instating full diplomatic relations and normalization. Bahrain signed a Peace Declaration launching peace talks. Morocco joined the Abraham Accords in December 2020. And Sudan formally joined in January 2021.

JCPOA The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Also called the “Vienna Agreement,” “the Iran Nuclear Deal,” or “the Iran Deal.” An agreement was signed between Iran and the P5 +1 (the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the European Union, and China) in 2015 to limit the Iranian Nuclear Program. In May 2018, the US withdrew from the agreement.

Oslo Process & Oslo Accords A pair of agreements signed between the Government of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Oslo I (signed in Washington, DC, in 1993), Oslo II (signed in Taba, Egypt, in 1995). As part of the Oslo process, Israel recognized the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people and as a partner in negotiations. The goal was to achieve a peace treaty based on United Nations Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. The Oslo Accords also created the Palestinian National Authority (PA, PNA).

IRAN Insights By AVI MELAMED

The pressing question is not whether a direct Iranian or Iran-supported militia response is imminent, but rather what its nature and consequences will be. The Hezbollah attack that resulted in the killing of Druze children in Majdal Shams on July 27 has sparked an escalation dynamic, disrupting the strategic landscape and bringing the region to the brink of a multi-front violent conflagration.
