authentic, apolitical education, helping people move from confusion to clarity and from confrontation to connection

Educational experiences offering perspectives not covered in the Western dialogue – delivered in-person and online – and tailored for diverse audiences – students, educators, community leaders, professionals, and general audiences  – of all backgrounds, beliefs, and knowledge levels.

The goal is to replace slogans with context and support more informed, constructive, and productive conversations about Israel and the Middle East.

Apolitical, intelligence-based education that helps people understand Israel through the broader Middle East.

Drawing on decades of Israeli intelligence experience and deep engagement with the Arab world, Avi brings regional voices rarely heard in Western settings into clear, accessible conversation. Rather than advocacy or political messaging, the briefings teach participants how to think like intelligence analysts, connecting history, ideology, and geopolitics to make sense of current events.

Avi’s Briefings do not tell you what to think, they help you to think about the Middle East in a way you have never thought about it before!

Since 2012, ITME has delivered apolitical, intelligence-based education on Israel and the Middle East to over 500 communities across North America.

What began as an individual initiative has evolved into ITME-ON-THE-ROAD, a national educational partnership model anchored by collaboration with the JCC Association of North America and a growing network of campus-based, community-based, organizational, and institutional partners. Through live, in-person briefings, conferences, film screenings, and workshops, ITME-ON-THE-ROAD brings ITME’s educational approach directly into communities, reaching thousands of participants each year.

ITME offers both scheduled webinars, presented as individual sessions or short thematic series, and rapid-response briefings that address breaking developments as they unfold. This flexibility allows ITME to provide durable educational grounding while also responding in real time to moments of heightened tension, media saturation, or public confusion.

Some webinars are led by Avi alone, offering focused analysis, historical framing, and strategic perspective. Others feature conversations with regional experts and voices from across the Arab and Muslim world, elevating perspectives often absent from Western discourse and deepening understanding through firsthand insight.

Hands-on interactive workshops equip participants with critical thinking, media literacy, and communication skills for understanding and explaining complex issues. Using ITME’s intelligence-based methodology, the Melamed Method, participants develop Intelligence Tools to gather and evaluate information, analyze sources and bias, synthesize competing narratives, and build a more accurate picture of reality beyond slogans or partisan framing. The workshops also introduce practical Ambassador Skills that support clear, responsible, and constructive communication. Designed for students, educators, professionals, and community leaders, these workshops strengthen both how participants understand complex regional issues and how they engage others in challenging conversations.

ITME conferences are high-impact, multi-day educational convenings that translate ITME’s apolitical, intelligence-based approach into immersive learning environments.

Led by Avi Melamed and featuring regional experts, journalists, and analysts, ITME conferences layer insight, lived perspective, and strategic analysis. By elevating regional experts and perspectives commonly absent from Western discourse, these conferences deepen understanding of Israel within its broader Middle Eastern context.

Geopolitics of Jerusalem Seeing Is The Key To Understanding On this tour we will strengthen the building blocks of our on-the-ground lexicon

ITME’s tours in Israel are immersive, field-based educational experiences designed to deepen understanding of Israel within its broader Middle Eastern context. Led by Avi Melamed, these intelligence-based briefings take place directly on the ground, where history, geography, and geopolitics intersect.

INTEL-EDVENTURE™ and INTELLI-TOUR™ deliver intelligence-based outdoor briefings—from a single strategic location to multi-site journeys across Israel’s cities, regions, and borders—while PERSONAL-ENCOUNTOURS™ add live, unfiltered conversations with Israelis and Palestinians on the ground, and Travel-From-Home extends select field briefings to remote participants in real time.

“The Essence Of Education Isn’t Telling People What To Think,
It’s Empowering Them How To Think.”

TO UNDERSTAND ISRAEL.
WE MUST UNDERSTAND THE MIDDLE EAST.

Across the globe, communities are struggling to navigate increasingly polarized conversations about Israel and the Middle East. Most existing approaches fall into two camps: advocacy, which promotes a position, and education, which too often reflects a Western, one-dimensional lens.

ITME.
THE BRIDGE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR.

Through apolitical Middle East education and the elevation of Arab and Muslim voices too often absent from Western discourse that help people understand Israel in the context of the Middle East, ITME brings people of diverse beliefs together – building context and connection in place of confusion and division.

“Given the frequency of speakers coming to campuses to discuss Israel, students feel there is rarely new information provided nor an objective position taken. Avi’s talk provided both! Every student went away feeling they had a more complete understanding of the war, and the necessary information to engage with it more holistically going forward.”

“Avi Melamed is not your typical Israel speaker. He didn’t just recite the usual talking points; he opened our eyes to the grand scale of the conflict and the current-day implications. This is exactly what students need to continue engaging with Israel in a meaningful way.”

Jonah Snyder

IACT Israel Coordinator | University of Miami

“Avi was able to tone his presentation and language to the complexity and understanding of a college student, expressing himself in a way that both an activist and a newcomer could equally understand and benefit.”

“Avi’s nuanced, balanced, thoughtful analysis has helped many, myself included, gain a deeper understanding of the events in Israel and the wider Middle East. Nearly 2,000 participants have joined our virtual briefings or access our online recordings. I am so proud and honored to provide this important resource to our JCC community at this critical time when greater education is essential.”

“I’m a progressive; I’m a local California council member. I was coming for the photo-op. But your briefing is the most important one I’ve heard. So, I cleared my calendar for the day so I could stay and hear you. I want you to brief the council.”

California legislator

“The board and staff said that it was the best presentation that we have ever had and are now capable of having productive conversations with people who question Israel.”

Laura Friedman

Executive Director | Bridgewater JCC

“It’s not easy curating educational experiences around Israel. People have strong opinions, contrasting narratives, and political perspectives.Avi did an amazing job with nuance and perspective rather than his own “op-ed.”
