How Are Israelis Adapting To Life Under Missile Threat? Insights From Ex-Israeli Intelligence Official | Avi Melamed quoted by Shamik Banerjee | TIMES NOW – INDIA |

Times Now Digital spoke to Avi Melamed, former Israeli intelligence official, who provided insights from Israel. Following the killings of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, missile attack threats on Israel have intensified. Civilian life in Israel is disrupted, with enhanced emergency preparations, including blood supply stocking, hazardous material removal, and shelter inspections.

Following the recent killings of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, the threat of a missile attack on Israel by Iran and its regional allies has intensified. Civilian life has been disrupted in Israel amid the threats. The country’s ambulance service has stocked up blood supply in an underground center, hazardous materials have been moved out of factories, and municipal authorities are continuously inspecting bomb shelters and water supplies, Reuters reported.

With the threat of a potential attack and broader escalation, what is daily life like in Israel? Times Now Digital spoke to Avi Melamed, former Israeli intelligence official and Arab advisor to two Mayors of Jerusalem, who provided insights from Israel on August 5. Mr. Melamed said that Israelis are trying to maintain normalcy despite the looming danger.

“People in Israel are obviously afraid, given the nature of the threat from Iran,” Mr. Melamed said. “Iran is using high-level weapons like missiles, and they are deliberately targeting civil and state infrastructure, which makes it even more dangerous for the people in Israel. And it’s not just Iran. As I said earlier, the threat comes from Iran’s proxies, as well.”

“Once you’re firing missiles, you are taking into consideration that substantial damage will be caused by it. Iran knew that,” he continued. “So, not everything is normal in Israel, but Israelis are trying to live routine lives, even with the threat.

Israel now faces the threat of a multifront war, confronting militant groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis in Yemen, all of which are backed by Iran. An attack is anticipated in the coming days, following vows from Iran and Hezbollah to retaliate for the recent assassinations of Haniyeh and Shukr.

“We are trying to remain hopeful that the conflict will be resolved, soon,” Mr. Melamed added.
