The United States has vowed to retaliate to Sunday’s deadly drone strike on American troops in Jordan by Iran-backed militias. NTD spoke to Avi Melamed, a former Israeli intelligence official and an independent Middle East strategic intelligence analyst, who said the United States doesn’t need to launch a big strike right away.

Mr. Melamed said the Biden administration would best be able to tell at what point Iran “gets the message” if it adopts a system of carrying out tiered strikes or “escalating retaliation” over a period of time—which is the approach he expects to be adopted.
