People, particularly young people, extract their information from the internet, particularly from social media platforms. The combination of buzz words, catchy slogans designed for a Western audience, digestible soundbites, emotional narratives, powerful images, and videos, etc. often results in a partial – and sometimes even distorted – picture of reality. A reality many do not even think to question and accept as “the truth.” Critical thinking, facts, and context are sidelined.
