Avi Melamed US Lecture Tour Spring 2014 | A New Middle East Requires a New Understanding.

Events of an historic scale are rocking the Middle East. I have spent many years of my life in the streets of the Arab world.  I have watched the Arab Awakening evolve and erupt from the inside.

The Middle East in changing before our very eyes, the landscape is shifting and changing every day, and can drastically change any minute now.

My upcoming US lecture tour will help you understand the present and navigate the future.

  • Egypt, the biggest and most important Arab State, is embroiled a fierce battle over its identity.
  • Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen are disintegrating in a bloody and violent process.
  • Lebanon, once known as the Paris of the Middle East, is a smoking volcano on the verge of a massive eruption.
  • The ghost of Osama Bin Laden is alive and well in Sinai, Iraq, North Africa, Syria and the waters of the Indian Ocean, as Emirates of terror and crime emerge, inspired by Al-Qaeda and other Islamic militant and radical organizations who promulgate a distorted translation of Islam.
  • Sunnis and Shiites are butchering each other throughout the Middle East and Africa.
  • In Iran the centrifuges continue to spin…

Arab states are collapsing – hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in never ending violence, millions have become refugees, magnificent cities are in ruins and social and educational systems are dysfunctional. Arab societies have lost their way and are embroiled in a deep sense of confusion. Decades of slogans, rhetoric, narratives, images and conspiracy theories designed to distract generations from the gloomy, hopeless reality of the Arab world, have given birth to angry people who are taught to hate and kill.

Yet, in the midst of this growing chaos, men, women and young people – Muslim and non-Muslim alike – are trying to build hope and create a future. Who are they? Will they succeed?

Israel, caught in the epicenter of this super-storm, has been relatively unscathed – so far. Will this continue? What are Israel’s most significant threats and challenges?

The US continues pursue peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Is a Peace possible? Will it hold? What is needed for a real peace between Palestinians and Israelis?

The world, and mostly the West, looks on dazed and confused, unable to decode the events in the Middle East, their origins, their logic, or their aftermath. Why does the West find itself in this embarrassing situation? What are the ramifications of their confusion and their inability to create and implement a clear and decisive policy?

The questions seem to be endless…Who are the players? What is the background of today’s events? What is really going on? Is there a future for this region? And if so, what will it look like?

I’m often asked “do I see any hope?”  My answer is: “I’m both painfully realistic yet cautiously optimistic.”

My lecture tour to the US this March will help you make sense out of what’s going on and leave you excited to hear the news or read the paper or go on line because you will have the tools to make Middle East make sense!

I have briefed thousands of people all over the world from high school students across the globe to officials in the highest echelons of government, intelligence and military sectors – and no matter where I go or who I meet I know how profound the need is for professional real-time, up to date knowledge and understanding of the Middle East. As always, I’m very honored and thankful for each and every meeting or stage I am given so I can use my decades of experience and knowledge to educate and teach. I always look forward to each meeting as if it were the first one. And for that I’m thankful.

For those who have booked me for this tour I look forward to seeing you! If you haven’t yet reached out to me and you would like to explore the option of me speaking in your community or for your organization, I would be more than honored, so please be in touch.

Furthermore, if you’re planning a trip to Israel, please be sure and be in touch to book a Briefing or Intelligence Tour.

If you want to have a better understanding of the news and what really drives the unfolding events…
